Judiciary Passes Cicilline Bill to Lower Drug Costs

Nov 20, 2019 Issues: Health Care

WASHINGTON – House Antitrust Subcommittee Chair David N. Cicilline (RI-01) released the following statement today after the House Judiciary Committee unanimously passed his bipartisan bill to drive down the costs of prescription drugs, the Affordable Prescriptions for Patients Through Promoting Competition Act of 2019 (H.R. 5133):

“Soaring prescription drug costs are ruining lives and bankrupting families. It’s long past time to stand up to the big pharmaceutical corporations and their CEOs.”

“This bipartisan legislation ends abusive delay tactics and will save taxpayers and patients hundreds of millions of dollars in the process. I thank Chairman Nadler for joining me in this effort. I look forward to sending this bill to the Senate, which should take it up without delay.
