Federal Resources for Hurricane Sandy Recovery
This week, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that the major disaster declaration for the State of Rhode Island following Hurricane Sandy was amended to include Newport County for assistance from the Individuals and Household Program.
This important declaration will help us do the hard work necessary to rebuild after Hurricane Sandy by ensuring access to federal resources. Please review this fact sheet, which describes what federal resources are available. If you need to repair damage to your home, rent a different place, or could use grants for other uninsured disaster-related expenses, I strongly encourage you to register with FEMA.
To register with FEMA for Individual Assistance, you can apply online via www.DisasterAssistance.gov or call the registration phone number at 1-800-621-3362 anytime between 7:00 am to 10:00 pm seven days a week. In addition, if I can be of assistance to you during this process, please do not hesitate to call my office at 729-5600.
Moving forward, I hope you will consider forwarding this information to friends, family and neighbors who may have been affected by the storm. I will continue to work hard in order to help ensure Rhode Islanders have every possible resource available as we continue to rebuild after Hurricane Sandy.
