Encouraging News for Landmark Employees, Families, Patients

Feb 17, 2011 Issues: Health Care

WASHINGTON, DC–  Upon the news today that Landmark Medical Center has signed a non-binding Letter of Intent to sell Landmark Health Systems to RegionalCare Hospital Partners, U.S. Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI), who has been pushing for a viable solution to keep Landmark open and serving the Northern Rhode Island area, released the following statement:

“Although this letter of intent signifies a non-exclusive offer and there remains an open bidding process, it is encouraging that a company has come forward with their intent to preserve Landmark Medical Center’s important presence in Northern Rhode Island. This is a step in the right direction toward keeping Landmark a full service community hospital and protecting it as a crucial driver of economic growth in Woonsocket. As the future of Landmark and the employees and patients who work and receive care there hangs in the balance, I look forward to the next steps to ensuring the viability of this critical health care service provider and job engine in Northern Rhode Island.”

Understanding the economic impact of Landmark Medical Center on Northern Rhode Island and its critical role in providing access to quality health care for residents of this part of the state, earlier this month, Congressman Cicilline and Rhode Island Governor Chafee joined together in a meeting with hospital administrators and employees to discuss the future of Landmark Medical Center  in our state.
