In recognition of National Police Week, U.S. Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI) joined members of the Woonsocket Police Department for their 11th annual COPs Walk. Beginning on May 9, 2011, Sergeant Edward Cunnanan lead 12 members on a 4-day walk from Woonsocket, RI to Washington, DC. Congressman Cicilline joined the officers near the end of the 450-mile relay-walk.

“I was honored to support the 13 members of the Woonsocket Police Department in Washington, DC after walking a combined 450 miles over the course of 4 days. The Annual COPs Walk is a wonderful cause that supports families of police officers who have been killed in the line of duty. Their excellent work and commitment to the safety of others is honorable and I thank them for their service to our community,” said Congressman Cicilline.

The Annual COPS Walk raises funds for families of police officers killed in the line of duty. This year, the Walk raised $15,000. The funds will go to the Concerns of Police Survivors.
