Cicilline Statement on Reported Death of Qaddafi
WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Congressman David Cicilline (RI-01), member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs released the following statement today in response to reports that Libyan dictator Muammar Qaddafi has been killed:
“The death of the Libyan dictator Muammar Qaddafi signifies a moment of opportunity for the Libyan people. After decades of unprovoked violence against his own people and innocent civilians around the world, including Americans, it is my hope that that country can now work towards a peaceful existence and a democratic government composed of free institutions, founded on the rule of law, and the consent of the Libyan people. ”
