Cicilline Statement on the Passing of Congressman John Dingell

Feb 8, 2019

WASHINGTON – Democratic Policy and Communications Committee Chair David N. Cicilline (RI-01) released the following statement after the passing of former Congressman John Dingell:

“John Dingell was a titan of public service. He entered public office under President Eisenhower and went on to become the longest serving Member of Congress in United States history. His legacy will live on as a policymaker who always worked to make peoples’ lives better, including his efforts to pass Medicare, Medicaid, and the Affordable Care Act. I’m grateful I had the opportunity to serve with him in his final years in the House. His death is a great loss to our country.”

“My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, and their entire family today.”
