Cicilline Participates In Only Congressional Hearing Allowing Americans To Speak Out Against Health Care Repeal

Jan 18, 2011 Issues: Health Care

WASHINGTON, DC– Today, U.S. Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI) participated in the only Congressional hearing where parents of young children and young adults, Americans with pre-existing medical conditions, small business owners and seniors had the opportunity to testify about the real-life effects of undoing critical patient protections.

During today’s hearing, Rhode Island native Alexander Lataille shared his story with the Members present. Lataille is a recent graduate of Lyndon State College and while looking for a job after graduation, he is able to stay healthy and afford health insurance only because he can stay on his parents’ policy.

“Today’s hearing provided the only opportunity here in Congress to hear real life stories of how the new health care law is benefitting people in Rhode Island and across the country,” said Congressman Cicilline. “I encourage you to listen to these inspirational stories because no one should be forced to make the choice between purchasing health insurance and paying your school loans, your mortgage or buying groceries.”
