Cicilline Doubles Down on Pats to Win Fourth Title
WASHINGTON – In the spirit of friendly competition, U.S. Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI) has challenged Congresswoman Nan Hayworth (R-NY) to a bet on the outcome of this weekend’s Super Bowl.
“Like many fans, I will be watching next Sunday as the Pats capture their fourth Super Bowl title of the Belichick era,” said Cicilline. “I am looking forward to next week when I will have the chance to present Congresswoman Hayworth with her very own Tom Brady jersey.”
Should Tom Brady lead New England to its fourth Super Bowl in ten years, Cicilline will present Hayworth with a Patriots jersey to wear for a day on Capitol Hill. Cicilline will be obligated to wear a New York Giants jersey if the Pats fall short.
“In what will be an exciting game this weekend, I’m confident our New York Giants are going to win," said Hayworth. "I'm looking forward to seeing my good friend display some Giants pride after watching the New York Giants bring home another Super Bowl Trophy against the New England Patriots. I already have a place picked out in my office where I will put Congressman Cicilline’s picture wearing a New York Giants jersey.”
As co-chairs of the Congressional Common Ground Caucus, a bipartisan forum for Members of Congress to build relationships with colleagues in a social setting, Cicilline and Hayworth hope this friendly competition will further exemplify the cooperation and camaraderie across the aisle that they are working towards on a daily basis. The Common Ground Caucus is scheduled to meet again later this month for a friendly dinner among its members.
