PAWTUCKET, RI – At the invitation of U.S. Congressman David N. Cicilline, William Bryan, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Infrastructure Security & Energy Restoration for the US Department of Energy will visit Rhode Island today, Thursday, September 1, 2011. Deputy Assistant Secretary Bryan is a specialist in the area of electrical infrastructure and will meet with Congressman Cicilline, Governor Chafee, Senators Reed and Whitehouse and Congressman Langevin along with other state,  local, and federal emergency management partners to hear from them about the recovery efforts underway and to learn of the remaining challenges, particularly relating to energy restoration.  He will discuss the potential role of the Department of Energy in the recovery process.

Bryan is the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Infrastructure Security and Energy Restoration in the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability (OE).  The office of Infrastructure Security and Energy Restoration (ISER) works with the National Security Staff, other U.S. government agencies, and international partners to enhance the security and resiliency of critical energy infrastructure and facilitate the reconstruction and recovery of damaged or disrupted energy systems. Bryan oversees the collection, analysis, and dissemination of vital information to all involved in energy response and restoration efforts.
